Is CBD safe to take during pregnancy and is it safe to give to our children?

These two questions are asked all the time, and there is a lot of conflicting information out there about the subject. It can be challenging to know which sources are the most informed. Until recently, most of the limited research has been done on marijuana use while pregnant, focusing most specifically on the impact of THC on a developing fetus and not CBD.

Pure CBD shows promise in providing intensely therapeutic effects for women who are pregnant – and that’s exactly why we need more research focused solely on CBD and pregnancy. We also know that the endocannabinoid system plays an important part in fetus development. Endocannabinoids within the human body are essential in fertilization, the development of a fetus, and even the growth of a new baby. Because the endocannabinoid system plays such a crucial role in the early development of a baby, it’s definitely important that more research is done on the way CBD interacts with a developing fetus.  A growing fetus, even when it has just 2 cells, has a developing endocannabinoid system, which is the bodily system that CBD benefits.

The endocannabinoids in breast milk are very important for a newborn’s development. They stimulate hunger, teach the infant how to suckle, and how to feed themselves.

The lack of these endocannabinoids may trigger a syndrome called ‘non-organic ability to thrive’ wherein the infant has no desire to feed. Cannabinoids are already present within breast milk so adding the phytocannabinoids from the plant heavily increases your milk supply.

Pure CBD for children is recommended for ages 2years and older. Again, there isn’t enough research on long term effects, however the World Health Organization (WHO) [PDF.] confirms CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile.

Studies also suggest that CBD may be beneficial for kids with hyperactivity, attention deficit disorders, traumas, depression, anxiety, and social conditions.

Currently there is only (1) FDA approved CBD medication on the market called Epidiolex. A treatment for extremely rare seizures and Epileptic conditions within children.

CBD is a natural and powerful option for helping our kids with the daily struggles of growing up. Farm to Pharm sells pure CBD that does not contain any THC. The ingredients are simply CBD and MCT oil.

Also understand, while there is little to no research on the long term effects of CBD and your baby, if you choose to consume CBD in any capacity, let it be clear this is your PERSONAL CHOICE. Similar to you choosing to consume OTC medications while pregnant. Common sense and good judgement need to dictate your decisions and as always, it’s best to consult your doctor before making any medical decisions.

CBD topicals and CBD Epsom soaking salts as well as CBD Bath Bombs were a life saver for me while I was pregnant. Helped reduce all the swelling, aches and pains. I lathered myself in our THC Free Extra Strength Cool Spot Lotion on the daily. Especially in my third trimester. I felt like Violet from Willy Wonka–one giant blueberry on the verge of explosion! I also chose to consume CBD with the guidance of my OBGYN to help regulate my hormones during and after pregnancy. These all natural Infused Vegan Daily Pure CBD Gummies (THC Free) are what I took without fail and this helped tremendously with my postpartum blues.

So there you have it mamas and papas, a little something to help balance you and your kids days.
